James and Betty Robison of Fort Worth, Texas are Big-Hearted People who founded LIFE Outreach International, a world-wide ministry. Many years ago the Lord led James and Betty into this ministry of compassion as they sought to meet the practical needs of the world's most desperate people while sharing the Gospel. God deepened James' and Betty’s understanding of the admonition: "Let us not love with word or with tongue [only], but in deed and truth (1 John 3:18.) They realized that hungry people are far more likely to open their hearts to news of a merciful God after those bearing the message have demonstrated His love by filling their empty stomachs. Guided by that insight, LIFE Outreach International began combining humanitarian assistance for physical needs with the verbal sharing of the gospel. In the early 1990s, this vision developed into a new television format, which enabled James and Betty to sit down and interact with a wide range of personalities--dynamic speakers, sports figures, politicians, entertainers and "ordinary" people. At the same time, they shared their vision to reach impoverished children by meeting their basic needs of food, clean water, shelter, clothing, medical care and, most importantly, the love of Christ. Millions of hurting, desperate people all over the world have experienced the compassion and provision of Jesus Christ through various humanitarian relief programs sponsored by LIFE Outreach International. It is here that James and Betty are honored as Big-Hearted people for their dedicated, selfless service to make a difference in people’s lives all over the world. |
